Bay earn first-leg advantage in other League Cup semi-final
Three first half goals do the damage with Town due at seaside at weekend.
Herne Bay will defend a 3-1 first leg lead in next week's League Cup semi-final second leg at Faversham for the right to face Sevenoaks or Beckenham in the final.
They gained some revenge for two league defeats earlier in the season with victory at Winch's Field on Wednesday night leading 3-0 at half-time.
Bay suffered their first defeat in any competition since November when they bowed out of the Umbro Kent Senior Trophy against Greenwich Borough at the weekend.

Little -"We conceded two sloppy goals but are still in the tie"
"We have played our best stuff away from home - and aim to do that again in second leg"
Sevenoaks Town assistant manager Joe Little was a little subdued following the 2-2 draw against Beckenham Town in the Bulmers Cider Kent League Premier Division League Cup Semi-Final First Leg tie on Tuesday night
He said:"We had a good start again, but conceded two sloppy goals, and were disappointed with our competitiveness at times.
"We are still in the tie and go to Beckenham in a fortnight's time with one of the best away records in the league and try to get the victory.
"If we want to get into these positions and compete in matches like this, we have to realise that we will play against good sides. With respect to other teams in the league, it's ok picking up points against the sides in the lower half of the table.
"To go out and play sides and get a victory is a challenge, and if our players want to be remembered this season for having a little run here or there, or going on and actually winning something, we need to step up to the plate.
"I thought it was a bit scrappy at times, but credit to Beckenham, they played some good stuff at times.
"Let's get away from home, that's where sometimes we play our best stuff, so we will be looking to hang on to that fact when we go to Beckenham and try and get something."

Town twice in front but still all to play for in League Cup semi-final
Sevenoaks Town 2 Beckenham Town 2
Sevenoaks Town will travel to Eden Park Avenue in a fortnight's time still very much in this Bulmers Cider Kent League Premier Division League Cup semi-final against Beckenham Town.
However they survived a strong second half display by the visitors at Greatness Park on Tuesday night after Gary Gorman had put them level for the second time on the night six minutes into the second half.
Billy Shinners fired Sevenoaks in front with his 17th goal of the season after five minutes, scoring from close-range to convert Chris Walker's low ball into the box.
However Beckenham were level 10 minutes later when Danny Lawson fell in the box in a challenge with Michael Cook and referee Martin Lehane deemed it a penalty. Anthony Weir stepped up to beat Sean Funnell from the spot.
The game turned Town's way again after 26 minutes in two incidents involving Beckenham goalkeeper Nicky Blue. First he picked up a booking for clipping Joe Creasey's heels just outside the area, The resultant free kick caught Blue in two minds inside his six-yard box, pushing the ball towards his own line, with assistant referee Nick Goodhew signalling the ball had gone in, sparking off angry Beckenham protests.
However Blue played a key part in Beckenham's second, the same route one approach adopted when they won 4-1 in the league at Greatness Park last month.
His long kick downfield caught the Town defenders on the back foot and Gorman bustled his way through to score in the far corner.
Sean Funnell saved twice from the former Orpington striker, who saw another effort deflected for a corner. Weir also saw another effort go wide and skipper Nick Curran's free-kick went wide of the target
Town's best effort in the second half came when Shinners stabbed wide under pressure from Blue.
Danny Ward picked up his 10th booking - with Shinners also cautioned after a spat with James Holder in the penalty area, as they waited for a corner.
Sevenoaks Town: Sean Funnell, Toby Webb, Ossie Bayram, Danny Twin, Michael Cook, Chris Walker, Kyrone Josephs, Danny Ward, Jamie Johnston, Joe Creasey (Daniel Akpoveta 89 mins), Billy Shinners.

Town continue to progress as Jones completes two years in charge
" I have learned a heck of a lot"
Simon Jones celebrates his second year in charge at Sevenoaks Town this month. The Town boss took over in caretaker charge in March 2007 when Derek Moore and Bobby Pittaway stepped down, and the club finished 11th.
Jones was given the job permanently that summer and enjoyed a good month a year ago when Town beat Lordswood Hythe and Faversham, only to fade badly, losing their last seven league games and fill 14th spot.
He said: "It didn't quite go according to the whole plan last season, but two years in the job have been very enjoyable and long may it continue. I have learned a heck of a lot since stepping up from park football to take on reserve team management and nobody said then it would be easy."
