Town boss happy with 3-0 win at Sporting Bengal - but admits it should have been more
|
Simon Jones was satisfied with the result after watching Sevenoaks Town complete their third win in a week with the 3-0 win at Sporting Bengal on Saturday. Nine points - 11 goals - and a best ever third position in the league, was ample reward for Town's efforts, but Jones knew the margin of victory over their unpredictable East London hosts could have been more.
He said: " It was an awful game, but sometimes you can only play to the conditions, and they weren't conducive to a good game of football. "The pitch was poor, and there was a swirling wind which are excuses. I thought we were poor in the first-half, and didn't put enough effort in, we lacked a bit of energy. We lifted it a bit in the second-half, and I thought there was only one team in it then. "It should have been more, we missed a couple of good chances, but it's an away win, clean sheet, and exactly what we wanted."
